s Soccer Coaches, the thing that we want most is to go into every game feeling that our team is confident, prepared, and know exactly what we need to do to beat our opponent.
However, sometimes the match doesn’t always go as planned. We make mistakes, we miss goals, and sometimes we lose. I’ve left soccer games thinking, “what happened? We’re way better than them, we shouldn’t have lost”.
Although we can never be perfect as a soccer team, we can definitely prepare our players so that we can score more and win more.
Under Pressure
Many times when players make mistakes on the field, it may be because of the pressure that they feel during an intense match. Instead of trying to remove that pressure, we need to help them get used to the pressure.
We can help players get used to high pressure situations during training sessions by adding timed exercises, incentivizing them for completing plays, and helping them get really comfortable on the field.
Doing this will help our players get used to pressure during games and will likely help them avoid making mistakes due to a high pressure situation.
Goal Stats (Follow The Data)
One of the best ways to help your players improve their shots on the goal is to measure data and help players understand it. The best way to measure player performance data is by watching video of your games, and taking statistics.
You can take stats on every player and game inside the Ollie app. It’s a great way to help players improve, measure stats, and analyze their performance. You can download Ollie in the app store for free!
Practice Makes (almost) Perfect
At the end of the day, one of the best things that you can do for your soccer team is work them hard. Make them practice until it becomes second nature for them. It should become so easy that they get bored of doing the same drill over and over. If the stakes are high during a game, they will stay calm knowing that they’ve done this a million times already.
